Objective:
The objective of this course is to produce skilled professionals with proficiency in the areas of computer science and applications. The candidates acquiring M.C.A. degree are expected to be able to function as System Manager/ Systems Analyst/ Software Engineer/ Faculty Member to impart teaching and training/ Research & development Scientist.
A. P.G. Rules for M.C.A.
R.PG.MCA 1.
Candidate for admission to the 3 - Year Master of Computer Application M.C.A.) Course must have passed a bachelor's degree examination under(10+2+3)pattern or equivalent, with at least II class and having obtained not less than 50% marks at aggregate or an equivalent grade of this university examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto by this University.
R.PG.MCA 2.
The admission to this course will be given by merit obtained in a Common Admission Test conducted by this university.
R.PG.MCA 3.
Candidate who has passed an equivalent examination from any other university or examining body and is seeking admission to the M.C.A. course shall not be admitted without producing the Eligibility Certificate from the North Gujarat University.
R.PG.MCA 4.
Intake shall be as per the sanction of AICTE from time to time. The reservation for the seats for various categories shall be as per norms of Government and this University.
R.PG.MCA 5.
The duration of the programme shall be full-time three academic years. Instruction and examinations will be conducted under the semester system. For this purpose each academic year will be divided into two semesters. No candidate will be allowed to join any service/job during the course of the study.
The medium of the instruction/Examination will be English.
R.PG.MCA 6.
No student shall be admitted to any semester examination for Master of Computer Application unless it is certified by the Head of the Department of Computer Science, that the student
1. has attended the courses of study to the satisfaction of the Head of the Department of Computer Science.
2. has maintained good conduct and character during the studies.
3. has attended at least 80% of theory lectures and practical sessions.
R.PG.MCA 7.
Student desirous of appearing at any semester examination must forward application in the prescribed form to the Registrar, through the Head of the Department of Computer Science on or before prescribed date.
R.PG.MCA 8.
The teaching and examination scheme shall be as shown in the
ANNEXURE-I. For the purpose of internal assessment the Department shall conduct at least one test in each semester. When more tests are conducted the average of the tests will be considered, as Internal marks.
R.PG.MCA 9.
IV. In order to pass a Semester Examination a student has to obtain at least 40 % marks in Internal Examination in each subject and also obtain at least 50 % marks in Aggregate of all the subjects of the semester.
V. A student failing at any semester examination will be permitted to prosecute the subsequent semester according to the following provisions:
a. A student failing in the First Semester will be permitted to prosecute studies for the Second Semester but will not be permitted to go to the Third Semester until he has cleared First Semester.
b. A student failing in the Second Semester will be permitted to prosecute studies for the Third Semester but will not be permitted to go to the Fourth Semester until he has cleared Second Semester.
c. A student failing in the Third Semester will be permitted to prosecute studies for the Forth Semester but will not be permitted to go to the Fifth Semester until he has cleared Third Semester.
d. A student failing in the Fourth Semester will be permitted to prosecute studies for the Fifth Semester but will not be permitted to go to the Sixth Semester until he has cleared Fourth Semester.
R.PG.MCA 10.
For Semesters I to III, no student shall be allowed to reappear in a subject in which he has already passed. However, a student can reappear at all the subjects ( University Examination ) of Semester IV to VI for Single seating passing to be eligible for award of a class. In such case, internal marks should have been obtained in one seating.
R.PG.MCA 11.
6. Standard of passing :
To pass the examination, a Candidate must obtained in each paper:-
a. at least 40 % of marks in the University Examination (i.e. minimum 28 marks out of 70 marks).
b. 40 % marks in the Internal examination ( i.e. minimum 12 marks out of 30 marks).
c. Theory and practical shall be treated as a separate head.
7. Award of class :
a. First class with Distinction : 70 % or more marks in aggregate of Semester IV, V & VI.
b. First class :60% or more marks in aggregate of Semester IV,V & VI.
c. Second class:50% or more marks in aggregate of Semester IV,V & VI.
No student who has not passed Semester IV in one seating , Semester V in one seating & Semester VI in one seating shall be eligible for award of class, viz. First class with distinction, First class, second class as the case may be, such students, on passing, shall be marked "PASS". |
